Live in a modern seaside community located on the southern tip of Vancouver Island. With remote work likely here to stay, our homes are becoming more important than ever.

If you’re looking to buy in an ideal planned community, you don’t want to miss out on an upcoming opportunity to own a home in GableCraft Homes’ Royal Bay development.

So far, all offerings in Royal Bay have been sold out. The upcoming release of a new single family phase including over 50 homes is slated for late spring, while GableCraft is also preparing to release its newest 83-unit townhome development, The Coral, within the next week.

“Royal Bay has become one of the most desirable locations in Victoria for a new home,” director of development Ben Mycroft says. “We’ve been the busiest we’ve ever been.”

Royal Bay is a modern seaside community located on the southern tip of Vancouver Island in the heart of Colwood. The unique master-planned community is bordered by over a kilometre of shoreline along the Juan De Fuca Strait.

Not only are residents perched on the edge of the outer core of Victoria, with access to all the benefits of the city, they’re also located at the perfect jumping off point for enjoying all the natural splendours offered by Vancouver Island.

What sets Royal Bay apart is the fact that it offers the concept of the planned community, which is rare for Victoria. Each detail has been carefully thought out to bring out the full potential of the area.

“All of your everyday needs are within a five-minute walk of your front door,” Mycroft says.

This includes the newly built Royal Bay Secondary School and a future elementary school. The newly opened Meadow Park Playground serves the growing contingent of young families in the area. The playground features custom-designed and built play structures including a double zip line, climbing structure, swings, a tower slide, suspension bridge and more. The playground is adjacent to Meadow Park Green, a new two-acre grass play area that will open in the spring.

Development of the master-planned community is being completed in phases, including the development of The Commons, a mixed-use neighbourhood at the heart of the Royal Bay Community. The Commons will include a retail village, Island grocer Quality Foods, cold beer and wine store, coffee shop, restaurant, pharmacy, and an exciting new Royal BC Museum collections building.

The Royal BC Museum completed the purchase of an eight-acre site in the area and are holding a competition to design an architecturally significant building for the 14,000 square-metre facility.

“That’s a huge benefit for the community of Colwood because it’s going to attract international attention, international architecture, and a massive government investment in our community,” Mycroft says.

The community of Royal Bay features high quality, efficient homes, from single family to townhouses and multifamily residences. There are living spaces for all ages and stages of life, with an apartment and condo development currently in the planning phase.

Island Health recently announced that they will be acquiring a site in Royal Bay for assisted living.

GableCraft Homes is a dynamic Western Canadian home builder with projects throughout B.C. and Alberta. “We have made a very strong start in Victoria, where we began five years ago,” Mycroft says. Known for their high-quality homes, they were awarded the CARE Award for Best Subdivision in 2020 from the Victoria Residential Builders Association for the Royal Bay subdivision. It was also awarded the best townhouse award for its West Commons townhouse project.

“We were very excited to be honoured by the local home builder awards,” Mycroft says. “We’re proud of the quality of our product.”

That includes building environmentally friendly homes. All homes in the Royal Bay meet or exceed BC Energy Step Code level three. “We’re future proofing our homes against energy cost increases,” Mycroft says.
